Mihai Marasteanu, Ph.D., PE

Mihai Marasteanu received his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Pennsylvania State University.  His research interests focus on the experimental characterization and constitutive modeling of asphalt binders and mixtures, pavement maintenance and rehabilitation methods, pavement design using mechanistic-empirical procedures. He is the author of over 60 publications in peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings and technical reports.

Dr. Marasteanu is the chairman of the Physical Characterization subcommittee of the Transportation Research Board AFK20 Committee on Characteristics of Bituminous Materials, a member of the Transportation Research Board Asphalt Binder Expert Task Group, and an editorial board member of the International Journal of Road Materials and Pavement Design.
