IMTP 2020: Deatrick LaPointe on a "Once In a Lifetime Experience" | Technological Leadership Institute
The following is a personal account of the international residency from M.S. in Management of Technology Class of 2020 student Deatrick LaPointe, MA, CEO and Founder of Take-Care, LLC and digital health entrepreneur/technologist.
The International Management of Technology Project (IMTP) trip was full of fun and tremendous insights with a variety of technology companies. The experience developed real-time cohesion amongst the cohort and will forever be part of our careers. The level of expertise and organizations added value to the intellectual links related to the M.S. in Management of Technology (MOT) program. The business management aspects of each culture were varied and diversified the growth of technological leadership skills.
The food and entertainment of each culture were more than any of us expected. Trying out new cuisines and riding on motorbikes through Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam was a highlight of the trip. Vietnam is exponentially evolving into a world-class city that will likely continue to grow into rural areas. Seoul has the same fast-paced business and pleasure culture that competes with the fastest growing cities in America. Both locations had a blend of Eastern and Western cultures that are developing their norms in alignment with democracies and unique politics.
Overall, this was a blessed opportunity and a once in a lifetime experience. The international trip is what links technological innovation together with the MOT program. In my experience, it's one of the best ways to prepare the future of technological business, innovation and leadership!
