    Study Finds MDI Instructor's Innovation Positively Impacts Patients

    One of our M.S. in Medical Device Innovation (MDI) faculty members Dr. Lars Oddsson is widely considered a pioneer in orthopedic wearables. A new study has found that the prosthesis he helped design, Walkasins by RxFunction, improves balance and speed for patients with peripheral neuropathy. The condition, a common complication of diabetes, is the result of nerve damage and causes weakness, numbness and pain in the feet and/or hands.

    Kare11 looks into the years-long growing popularity of digital cash applications such as Venmo and Zelle, which have millions of users and reviews due to their convenience and ease of use. Reporters spoke with our very own Mike Johnson, director of graduate studies for the M.S. in Security Technologies (MSST), about the safety and security around digital wallet apps. Johnson develops, teaches and administers courses in security technologies innovation, management and leadership. He brings more than 25 years of professional experience in security risk management.

    RxFunction -- the manufacturer of walkasins, a wearable sensory prosthetic for patients with balance problems -- has raised $7.5 million as it prepares to reach the market. Next steps are proceeding with FDA registration, clinical trial studies and commercialization. TLI faculty member Dr. Lars Oddsson is the CTO and co-founder of RxFunction, and he co-invented and developed the patented technology.
